Hell and High Water: Emergency response update from LDEQ

We asked LDEQ’s Ombudsman Christopher Ratcliff for information on the emergency protocols at state refineries and chemical facilities for potential flooding (see the post below for the specific questions). His response:

“DEQ doesn’t have this kind of information, for the most part.”

But Ratcliff did provide us with information about the declaration of emergency that was sent to facilities. The declaration basically allows for some leniency when it comes to accidental spills, discharges and wastewater treatment overflows due to flooding. Read the declaration here.
